1919 (Saturday)
This is the only year in which an inch of rain fell on this date (thru 2025). 1.82" was measured in Central Park, with most falling in two two-hour periods (0.71" between 6-8 AM and 0.62" between 8-10 PM). Today's rain followed a rainfall of 0.85" yesterday, and 0.92" would follow tomorrow. These three rainy days came in the midst of nine days in a row with rain (July 15-23) in which nearly six inches was measured.
In addition to 7/19, twelve other dates have had an inch of rain just once (the average number per date is five). And 9/9 has the distinction of yet to have a one-inch+ rainstorm.

Never before has there been such a drop in temperature the day following a triple-digit reading.
